Searcys at the Gherkin teams up with Clean Eating Alice for a happy and healthy New Year

Head Chef Barry Tonks, and pint-sized fitness fiend, Clean Eating Alice
Gone are the days of cabbage soup diets and torturous 5am runs, News Year’s Resolutions have never been so fun with the brand new and exciting collaboration between Searcys’ Head Chef Barry Tonks, and pint-sized fitness fiend, Clean Eating Alice.
While New Year’s Resolutions might be challenging for some, Searcys at the Gherkin is bringing the balance back to healthy eating with their new Saints and Sinners menu.

The unlikely pair will be creating a concoction of fresh, healthy recipes with a few naughty dishes thrown in for good measure; both a virtuous culinary offering with recipes taken from the nutritional guru’s upcoming cookery book overlaid with Barry’s exceptional gastronomical flair, as well as some indulgent choices on the menu.

Saintly Suppers with Clean Eating Alice
Dishes such as roasted aubergine nuzzled in feta and tahini and bejewelled with pomegranates, super seed load with smoked salmon and minted yogurt, Venison cooked in ginger and served with miso-glazed parsnip fries and freshly caught spiced cod with a side of turmeric laced cauliflower, will be nestled on the Searcys menu for the exclusive six-week pop-up. And with such healthy starters and mains to choose from, diners will find it even harder to say no to the equally healthy desserts in the form of cocoa and chia seed energy balls with a dollop of vanilla bean ice cream, or maple syrup French toast served with Greek yoghurt and blackberry chia jam; healthy eating has never tasted so good!

Over to the Dark Side with Head Chef Barry Tonks
Leading the way for an indulgent January is Barry Tonks, Head Chef at Searcys The Gherkin and connoisseur in the art of French cooking. In contrast to Alice's saintly side, the devilishly delicious Sinners dishes are packed with rich ingredients to tempt even the most determined of dieters. Opening with Foie Gras and lobster ravioli to start, the meals only become more decadent with slow braised ox-cheek, butter roasted halibut and truffle risotto. And where would an indulgent meal be without a collection of desserts that have guilty written all over them? The Baba au rum packs a punch with the aged liquor and a dollop of Chantilly cream whereas the Apple Tart Tatin might seem innocent enough, if it wasn't for the buttery, mouth-watering pastry and the generous serving of homemade vanilla ice cream.

Saints & Sinners Drinks Menu
As connoisseurs in champagne, a dinner at the Gherkin wouldn't be complete without sampling some of the expert's favourite sparkling, white and red wines . Fitness fanatics and freshly embarked New Year's Resolution-ers need not dismay at the thought of a tee-total tipple, Searcys have put together a wine list overflowing with organic, low sulphite and low sugar options for the more health-conscious drinker. Skinny Fizz Cava, low sulphite Rose Riesling and Organic Pinot Noir are there for the drinking, as well as a smoothie concoction for those that wish to drink their fruit (and veg).

Kicking off this January, the well-being installation will not only include a range of mouth-watering nutritious delicacies, but Clean Eating Alice will be conducting a select number of High Intensity Interval Training classes. Recently heralded as one of the most effective fat burning exercises, the recently qualified Personal Trainer will be putting both gym bunnies and those new to fitness through their paces in a training session perched at the very top of the iconic landmark.

With views of London as far as the eye can see, this is no ordinary gym class. And demonstrating HIIT exercises that can be done anywhere from 180 metres above London, to your very own living room, guests will be leaving Searcys with a mind full of powerful knowledge, a book of delicious recipes and a set of new calorie-busting moves to make 2017 the healthiest, most inspiring and motivational yet.
