Industry figureheads gather at Lord's for The Club Leadership Summit 2016

Keith Pelley, CEO, European Tour addresses the Long Room at Lord's
Last week Lord’s Cricket Ground welcomed more than 50 of the golf industry’s top CEO’s and General Managers from across the UK, Europe and The Middle East, to The Club Leadership Summit 2016. The 3-day business and networking event addresses a wide spectrum of issues, faced by golf clubs worldwide. This year’s central theme was ‘Clubs Of The Future’.

Since the inaugural event was held back in 2012, The Club Leadership Summit has established itself as one of the best networking and educational events within the golf club world. Attendees this year included delegates from the likes of Valderamma, The Wisley, Queenwood, Royal Dornoch and Kingsbarns, with known sportsmen such as international cricketer, Nick Compton and English former football player, Alan Curbishley.

This year a fundraising dinner was held in the famous Long Room, at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. A live ‘money can’t buy’ auction raised in excess of £20,000 for official charity partner Golfing4Life (G4L), founded by ‘The Who’ manager, Bill Curbishley. The money raised will contribute to bursaries awarded to under privileged young golfers, giving them the valuable opportunity to reach the pinnacle of the game.

Several industry leaders addressed the attendees at this year’s event, with keynote speakers including; Keith Pelley - European Tour CEO, Tom Delozier - General Manager of Quail Hollow Golf Club, Tom Reilly - Golf Director of Talent Management, John Colucci - Executive VP and Founding Partner of Wheels Up, as well as leading cardiovascular expert, Dr Dorian Dugmore, Director of ‘Beyond The Barriers’, who delivered a fascinating talk on corporate wellness in sport, and polar explorer, Christina Franco, who introduced her plan to facilitate the first ever golf event to be played on the North Pole.
