Merlin Events London stars in BBC One’s The Apprentice

Merlin Events, Madame Tussauds - World Stage
Last night (Thursday 24 November), candidates from BBC One’s The Apprentice took part in a task involving two of Merlin Events iconic London venues – Madame Tussauds and the SEA LIFE London Aquarium.
The candidate’s hosted two exclusive ‘After Dark’ events for guests to experience two of the capital’s famous attractions out of daytime hours for an evening with friends or colleagues.

Samantha Burton, head of events at Merlin Events London said: “Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE are some of the capital’s most popular destinations so it was important the contestants understood the history of the attractions and maintained our reputation for hosting unique and standout events. The events industry is known for its high-pressure and fast paced environment so creating, selling and managing a desirable ‘Lates’ product in a unique venue with plenty of operational challenges was the perfect task to set the candidates. It was a great way to immerse them in our industry to see if they have what it takes to manage and run our successful After Dark experiences.”

Under the expert guidance of Merlin Events’ Samantha Burton, head of events and former event manager Gareth McTiffin, The Apprentice teams had to organise the event from start to finish, including setting and delivering a theme for the evening, choosing the right menu, making and serving canapés, selling tickets and hosting and managing the event.

Open to the general public, Madame Tussauds After Dark experience see’s visitors journey through 400 years of the capital’s history on the Spirit of London ride, followed by an immersive Marvel 4D experience, the chance to meet characters from the Star Wars Exhibition. Guests can enjoy the attraction at their own pace, so there’s always time to snap a selfie with over 200 celebrity wax figures.

SEA LIFE After Dark lets visitors explore and experience areas like the Shark Walk, Pacific Reef and Atlantic Cove, where you’ll encounter sea creatures such as sea turtles and the Cuban crocodile. This VIP experience includes expert advisors stationed throughout the aquarium so guests can learn all about the marine life around them.
