2016 Venuemasters conference a sell out

2016 Venuemasters conference

Repainting entire streets with an obscure colour scheme

Venuemasters knows all about academic venues. For 35 years, the not-for-profit consortium has helped UK universities to share the cost and knowhow of marketing their facilities to event organisers. Today it promotes the facilities of over 50 academic venues, which presents a much stronger ‘voice to the industry’ by working together.

The consortiums annual Conference is taking place on 16-17 November at Conference Aston, in Birmingham. “With a new 2-day format and a great venue in Conference Aston, we’re especially excited about this year’s event” says Chief Executive, Terry Billingham. “We’re delighted the event has sold all of its residential packages, but day delegates are still welcome to book and join over 80 colleagues from academic venues.”

Event organisers and academic venues share their experiences
The theme of this year’s Conference is ‘working together to help connect with our customers’. There is a great line-up of presenters including three event organisers representing academic associations (BUFDG) venue agency (Assured Events) and Language School operator (Target English). They will be talking about their experiences and the facilities and services they need from academic venues. There will also be presentations from three very different academic venues outlining the targets and challenges they face for their respective operations.

Understanding the marketplace and being enterprising
The second day begins with a presentation by BDRC, the UK’s leading market research organisation in the events sector. This will include the results their latest ‘MeetingsMetrix’ research conducted in this summer. The final guest speaker is Rebecca Jones, who is a renowned motivational business speaker. She will be sharing her trademark ‘ENTERPRISE WITHIN’ talk about how delegates can develop an enterprising style within a large organisation.

Networking and building relationships

The packed two day programme will provide delegates with ample opportunity to develop new ideas and action plans to implement at their venues. However, the Conference also provides plenty of opportunities for delegates to network and build their contacts with colleagues from different venues located all over the UK. Venuemasters Event Manager, Jo Mitchell commented; “The team is looking forward to what promises to be a great Conference. We can’t wait to meet all the delegates at Conference Aston in Birmingham.”
