The Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) is taking part in the international tourism exhibition IFTM TOP RESA, which took place from 20-23 September 2016 in Paris, France. One of the central events of the exhibition was the presentation entitled “Russian hospitality: enchanting travel routes and FIFA 2018 host cities” organized by Rostourism.

“Russia is among top 10 most popular travel destinations for tourists from all over the world and participation in IFTM TOP RESA will further raise the interest to travelling to Russia. We are a travel-friendly country and we are showing how we are preparing to welcome international fans during FIFA 2018 World Cup”, – said Sergey Korneev, the Deputy Head of Rostourism.

The conference focused on the Russian travel industry’s readiness to welcome football fans from all around the world during the FIFA 2018 World Cup that will take place in Russia. Touristic products and package offers during the Cup were also presented, as well as the tourism potential of the country in general and its main travel routes. “IFTM TOP RESA is a perfect occasion to present the touristic potential offered by the FIFA World Cup, as France herself has just hosted an UEFA World Cup. Besides, France traditionally has tight relations with Russia and that secures intensive flows of tourists between the two countries”, – added Sergey Korneev.

Russia will soon open in Paris its tourist office, Visit Russia, whose objective will be to promote touristic and cultural projects and increase the visibility of the country. “The opening of the Russian tourist office in Paris on December 8th will be a great event as this is the first one in France. It is very important for us to be in the country because of the strong ties with Russia,” says Valentina Arteaud, Manager of Visit Russia in France. She adds: “Visit Russia will offer a wealth of information to French people, and our teams are keen to bring all the support needed to prepare a journey that must remain unique.”

Russia welcomed over 86,000 French tourists during the first six months of 2016, making it the second most important source of tourists in Western Europe, the first one remaining Germany. Rostourism expects in 2017 increased numbers of foreign tourists.
