Associations UK Congress 2016 programme unveiled with new features for 10th year

Associations UK Congress 2015
The Association of Association Executives (AAE) has today unveiled its content programme for the Associations UK Congress 2016, which this year will be held in Wembley, London on November 17th to 18th, 2016. The event will take place at The Drum events venue, part of Destination Wembley and located just a stone’s throw away from Wembley Park.

New features for the Associations UK Congress, now in its 10th year, include:
• Association+ sessions - workshops that provide developmental training on key topics such as: digital – understanding Google Analytics to monetise your website; how to develop a comprehensive education and learning strategy; how to work positively with Brexit; how to create an effective content strategy and more. • Success stories - a plenary session where shortlisted candidates for the Association Awards will lead table discussions following a short presentation to the plenary audience and delegates will have the chance to switch tables three times during the 75-minute session.
• Events strategy days - the programme this year includes two whole days focused on events strategy, following the success of the newly launched events strategy day at this year’s Associations World Congress in Berlin. Day 1 will centre on the theme of ‘creating content to engage your audiences’, while day 2 takes on the broader viewpoint of ‘world-class events: get ahead of the game’.

The events strategy streams form part of a rich programme of six main content strands to the congress this year, covering: income generation; engaging content for events; membership development; strategic association management; strategies for world class events; and engaging communities. Content strands have been developed based on feedback from members and previous delegates regarding key topics to cover and will address the varying needs of delegates from different areas of association management and operation, from CEOs and event directors to marketing, membership managers and more.

Inaugural Association Awards Dinner
For the first time, the 2016 congress will include a dedicated awards dinner event as part of the AAE’s annual Association Awards. Places at the dinner are given free of charge to all shortlisted candidates and included in the congress registration package. Another first in 2016 is the opportunity for association employees to purchase tickets to the awards dinner as a standalone event, without the need to register for congress.

Commenting on the programme, AAE Executive Director Damian Hutt says: “We have a rich content programme for our 10th year, with some amazing speakers sharing practical, invaluable insights for association executives based on their own experiences. We are delighted to introduce Association+ sessions this year, aimed at providing yet further value to our delegates with more practical training that they can apply in their everyday jobs. We have a great destination this year in Wembley and are looking forward to our first ever formal awards dinner and celebration of association excellence.”

Around 350 delegates are expected to attend the event this year, a mixture of heads of events, membership organisations, directors, VPs, heads of departments and managers from small to large organisations including professional bodies, trade associations, scientific societies, unions, user groups, forums and councils.
