Zafferano and English Heritage put Jewel Tower on the London events stage

Jewel Tower events setting
Throughout summer 2016, Zafferano Catering Ltd is working with English Heritage to launch Jewel Tower as a landmark event space for both corporate and private events.
Jewel Tower is the latest landmark space to join the London heritage venue market. Built around 1365, to house King Edward III’s treasure, Jewel Tower is one of only two buildings from the medieval palace of Westminster to survive the fire of 1834.

The building is full of interesting architectural features, including original 14th century ribbed ceilings and anti-clockwise spiral staircases, used for defensive purposes.

Occupying three floors, the intimate space can accommodate a dinner for 22 or a reception for 35. Jewel Tower also has a small adjoining garden which, when used in conjunction with an event increases the capacity to 80 standing.

Zafferano has recently catered a number of events at Jewel Tower including a reception for the British Horseracing Association and a British Beer Day celebration for the British Beer and Pub Association.

The caterer has also hosted two VIP dinners at the space, creating special menus including seasonal dishes such as summer vegetable salad, pea and mint panna cotta, lavender pastry, viola and affilla cress and Fillet of Black Angus, fondant potato, stuffed chard, violet artichoke and sauce choron. Some of the bespoke dessert canapés were influenced by the history of the building, referencing its past purpose and nodding to Jewel Tower’s construction in the medieval epoch.

Commenting on Jewel Tower and the potential it has as a venue, Julian Saipe, Managing Director of Zafferano says “This latest addition to the private and corporate event scene is the perfect space for both lavish intimate banquets or small, understated receptions. Steeped in history, its close proximity to the Palace of Westminster make it the ideal venue for public affairs bodies, professional services and associations looking to host parliamentary functions. For the private market, there are also plenty of theming opportunities, this could be a decadent 14th Century feast or contemporary, modern furnishings, offset by the ancient surroundings. We are delighted to be working with English Heritage to bring this unique, national treasure to the event bookers and buyers.”

Anna Dil from the English Heritage Corporate Events Team added, “We’re delighted to be working with Zafferano Catering Ltd to offer people the chance to host events within the Jewel Tower. Located in the heart of Westminster, with a rich and fascinating history, it’s an ideal venue for a wide variety of events and functions.”
