Vertigo Adventures at Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City opens June 25

Fun, thrills and nerve-jangling challenges – you’ll find it all at the new Vertigo Adventures in Hertfordshire’s Welwyn Garden City. The high- and low-ropes course, which opens on June 25, promises to be one of the toughest in the UK, with zip-wire action, breathtaking plunges and daring challenges to test even the hardiest of adventure seekers!

The operators will be targeting the corporate market since the attraction can be hired for exclusive events and team building. Welwyn Garden City is only 20 minutes by train from London Kings Cross.

For those who want to take it easy, the Monkey Trail is the perfect starting point. At just 10ft tall, it’s great for anyone aged five and above. With nine elements to tackle, from Sky Islands to Twin Tube Tunnels, there’s a variety of challenges for little monkeys to conquer.

Feeling brave? If you’ve got a head for heights then it’s time to move on to the Hawks View, with more than 20 elements to test your nerves. At over 40ft high, you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of 126 acres of award-winning parkland as you tackle the Trapeze Walk like Tarzan and soar across the Zip.

Then it’s decision time: take the Kitten Bridge (red route) or be a total daredevil and go for the Totem Poles (black route) before finishing off on Indians Bridge.

The adventure doesn’t end there. If you’ve got what it takes to Plummit from the Summit then take a leap of faith on the powerfan and enjoy the drop! Or maybe take on the Flying Fox and fly down the 50m-long zip from the top of the tower. If you’re still craving more, you can take on the Crazy Climb and see how far you can ascend the tower before coming back down to earth. Just clip and go!

Vikki Hadnett, Vertigo Adventures’ Centre Manager, says: “Unlike other high-ropes courses, the Hawks View gives visitors the option to stick to the normal route or switch over to the extreme route if they’re feeling brave. Vertigo Adventures also has the added bonus of a double zip line.

“Whatever you choose to tackle, this is going to be the ultimate adventure guaranteed to bring out the ape in you. With a range of challenges for all ages and abilities, there’s fun and excitement to suit everyone, from youngsters to the real thrill seekers.”

Vertigo Adventures is open from 9am to 5pm peak season and during school holidays, and 10am to 3pm in winter. Packages will be available for either one element of the course, or mix-and-match to include all five.

Vertigo Adventures is in Stanborough Park (North) on Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, just off J4 of the A1(M) between Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City, and 20 minutes by train from London Kings Cross.
