Beer tasting, wine pairing and ginspiration all on the menu at PUB16

The UK’s only dedicated pub show, PUB16, will be offering attendees unmissable advice and inspiration on all things food and drink when the show returns to Olympia London on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 February.
Special features within the show include The Taste Table and Sophie’s Bar will be hosting talks, advice, Q&As and sampling sessions that guarantee owners and operators will leave with a wealth of knowledge and new ideas to take back to the pub.

Meanwhile, show sponsors BrewDog present an Arcade inspired by their Two Bit Shoreditch bar and Meantime Brewing Co. have put their name to @TheBar – the show’s central networking point.

The Taste Table presents a wide range of hot tips and tricks to get the most out of beer, wine and spirits.

The Beer Academy will be presenting two tasting sessions at the Taste Table, one on each day of the show, led by beer sommelier Nigel Sadler. On Tuesday they will be exploring the dark side of beer, tasting four delicious dark beers by some of the UK’s best brewers, while Wednesday explores lighter beer with an IPA, a wheat beer and two pilsners.

Tuesday’s second session will be a guide to food and wine pairing with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Certified educator Johnnie Parkhurst will explain how the major tastes in food like sweet, salty or acidic can change perception of wine and how this knowledge can be used to profit from food and wine recommendations on menus.

Leading UK soft drinks brand Fever Tree will take control of the Taste Table on Tuesday afternoon, to offer advice on the best gins to stock from the vast array now available and how to make the most of the humble G&T, all with tasting.

On Wednesday, WSET return to the table to put forward ideas on how to get to grips with spirits and liqueurs, helping publicans to craft a spirits offering that combines in-demand brands and great tasting drinks. There will also be guide to the best condiments available for pubs and bars, with award-winning chutney and preserve producer Tracklements.

Over on Sophie’s Bar, acclaimed beer sommelier Sophie Atherton will be joined by some of Britain’s best upcoming and regional brewers to present a series of informal tutorial, tastings and tips. Breweries include Five Points Brewery, By The Horns Brewing Company, Cheshire Brewhouse, Dorset Brewing Company, Moor Beer, Saltaire Brewery and Pig & Porter Brewing.

New to the show for 2016, show sponsors BrewDog will be bringing their Two-Bit bar to PUB16 visitors with the BrewDog Arcade. The area will feature retro arcade games alongside a range of cutting-edge seasonal beers – which of course will be available for sampling. The central point for networking at the show will be @TheBar with Meantime Brewing Co, where attendees can meet with peers, share ideas and relax with a pint.
