Swire Restaurants brings French flavours to Pacific Place with Plat du Jour

Plat du Jour food
Following the successful launch of Plat du Jour in Quarry Bay, Pacific Place will welcome the brand’s second venue in February. Located on the lower level of Pacific Place, the 160-seat restaurant will offer all-day dining with quintessentially French dishes.
Under the culinary direction of Executive Chef David Parkin, Plat du Jour Pacific Place promises a selection of dishes that reflect the best in traditional French cooking using carefully sourced ingredients. Born and raised in the UK, Chef Parkin also oversees the menus at EAST, Hong Kong as well as several Swire Restaurants.

Guests can choose from a two course menu at HKD235 (approx. £20) or three course menu at HKD275 (approx. £25) available for lunch and dinner. Signature starters include much loved French comfort dishes such as Escargot Bourguignon, Lobster Bisque and Poached Tuna Niçoise. The Gallic gastronomy tour extends to hearty mains such as Beef Bourguignon – made with premium grade US beef braised in Pinot Noir and served with carrots, baby onions, mushrooms and potato purée – and iconic dishes like Grilled Black Angus Rib-eye or Côte de Porc (grilled pork chop with French beans and apple purée).

Seafood dishes like the Seared Sea Trout and Bouchot Mussels are prepared in a choice of marinières or wheat beer sauces.

The dessert selection offers fresh interpretations of such classic favourites as Apple Tarte Tatin, Chocolate Fondant, Lemon Madeleine and Vanilla Crème Brûlée.

“As well as serving authentic, classic French flavours, Plat du Jour will also introduce Hong Kong diners to more regional dishes such as Coquilles St. Jacques and our rustic Côte de Porc,” explains Chef Parkin. “These dishes, along with others in the expanded Pacific Place menu, embody the sophistication and refinement of classic French cuisine.”

Aside from the set lunch and dinner menus, guests can also choose from an all-day à la carte menu, available daily from 10am. Reinforcing the French bistro concept, menu highlights include fresh oysters and seafood platters, daily “plat du jour” items, assorted tartines as well as a selection of pastries and desserts.

Exclusive to the Pacific Place outlet, guests can also experience Plat du Jour’s first afternoon tea, “Le Thè”. The set includes savoury bites such as crab cocktail and croque monsieur, accompanied by classic French sweets like chocolate mousse, macarons and raspberry cake bomb. Served with coffee or tea and priced at HKD225 (approx. £20) for two, the afternoon tea will provide a perfect excuse for a mid-shopping break.

To complete the unique setting, an original vintage Citroën truck will be converted into a deli and stationed outside the restaurant offering coffee, croissants, and a variety of snacks to those hungry for a bite or busy on the run.

Plat du Jour Pacific Place has been designed by Hong Kong F&B interior specialists Zanghellini & Holt Associates. Inspired by traditional French bistros, the restaurant offers a range of seating options, from intimate booths and cosy banquettes to an expansive indoor terrace perfect for people watching. Evoking memories of traditional Parisian cafés, Plat du Jour Pacific Place is designed for a variety of customers and functions, from business meetings and family gatherings to intimate dinners and casual lunches.
