Lambeth Palace partners with FoodShow for venue launch

Lambeth Palace exterior
Last week, Lambeth Palace (the Archbishop of Canterbury’s London residence) formally launched its spaces to the corporate and private events market with a spectacular showcase. Catering and events company FoodShow partnered with Lambeth Palace for the launch to celebrate its £3m contract win to deliver external event catering and event management services at the new events venue.

A representative from the Prince’s Trust said of the launch: “Hugely impressive afternoon at the launch of Lambeth Palace, exploring all their wonderful event spaces. We were so well looked after by FoodShow, thank you all.”

Over 150 event professionals attended the launch including representatives from Prince’s Trust, Kaya Festival, The Gorilla Organisation and Pret a Manger. On arrival guests were shown to the recently refurbished Great Hall uplit in a vibrant pink hue. A circular bar in the centre of the room provided sumptuous cocktails including spicy watermelon and vodka and fresh passion fruit and mint mojito. Food stations draped with delicious bites were on show including edible gardens on poseur tables, an Italian cheese and anti-pasta display which guests were welcome to tuck into.

A live jazz band played rhythmic instrumental sets while graceful dancers swayed amongst guests. Canapés including Gloucester Old Spot confit pork belly with caramelised pear puree and puffed crackling, foie gras parfait with crushed hazelnut and cinnamon brick pastry, Iberico ham PataNegra with Pedro Ximenez glazed fig and dolce latté and orange and champagne cured salmon with sweet mustard dill sauce were served whilst guests enjoyed the entertainment.  Bowls of Rhug farm organic canon of lamb with pommes puree –baby turnips, black garlic puree and light reduction, charred cauliflower with truffle sour cream green piccalilli and slow cooked short rib of beef with mushroom caramel and crispy potato floss were also circulated.

Later guests were free to explore the vast garden and the new spaces available; the Blue Dining Room styled for dinner, the Pink Dining Room styled for a day meeting, the Guard Room complemented with impressive floral displays and the Atrium styled for a reception. A surprise awaited guests in some rooms including wine tasting in the Guard Room, a pianist in the State Drawing Room, a harpist in the Atrium and massages and manicures in the garden marquee.

Returning the Great Hall guests enjoyed an elegant solo performance by a dancer on stilts, her costume fitted with smalls lights tuned to the music. Before departing guests were treated to a live upbeat vocal performance of Motown and swing classics by the jazz band.

Suppliers involved in the showcase include the Tim Boniface Jazz Band, dancers from Devine Company, floral arrangements by Pinstripes & Peonies, sound and lighting by Present Communication, the bar from Fisher Productions, massages and manicures by Return to Glory, equipment from Options and photography by Jay Rowden.

Located on the south bank of the River Thames, Lambeth Palace is available to hire throughout the year for a variety of events including cocktail parties, receptions, meetings, dinners and conferences. The secluded nine acre grounds are ideal for garden parties, teambuilding and family fun days accommodating over 1,000 guests. A permanent marquee structure provides shelter for inclement weather and ideal for dining in the stunning gardens in the summer.
