IWM Duxford, Churchill War Rooms and HMS Belfast join Lime Venue Portfolio

HHMS Belfast
Lime Venue Portfolio has added three branches of IWM (Imperial War Museums’) to its growing portfolio of historic landmarks. IWM Duxford a world-renowned aviation museum and Britain's best preserved wartime airfield; Churchill War Rooms, the secret headquarters below the streets of Whitehall from which Churchill directed the war effort; and HMS Belfast, the last remaining Second World War cruiser of her type in the world.

The three historic venues join the portfolio having signed a five-year contract worth £7.3million with Levy Restaurants UK, the sports, leisure and hospitality sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland. The new business partnership will see Levy Restaurants UK provide catering experiences to guests, delegates and visitors while Lime Venue Portfolio will be responsible for driving conference and events business.

IWM Duxford in Cambridge features the AirSpace Conference Centre, which offers a 200-seat tiered lecture theatre, seven flexible meeting and events spaces and the AirSpace Conservation Hall, a 2,000sqm hall with a capacity for 800 delegates.

Located in the heart of Westminster, The Churchill War Rooms offer four versatile meetings and events spaces, rich in history, with capacity for up to 400 guests for meetings, dinners, receptions, press launches and seminars.

Steeped in history and naval charm, HMS Belfast’s historic rooms, event suites, dining hall and decks offer unrivalled facilities and commanding views overlooking London and Tower Bridge and the Thames Docklands. The ship’s conferences and events spaces can host from 15 to 200 guests/delegates.

Jo Austin, Director of Sales for Lime Venue Portfolio, said: “We’re very excited to work in collaboration with IWM to help establish IWM Duxford, HMS Belfast and Churchill War Rooms as a pre-eminent choice for corporate, association, agency and private conference and event organisers. The museums are a valuable addition to our portfolio and we’re looking forward to introducing complete event solutions, which encompass innovative and sustainably sourced food to provide high quality and memorable events.”

Barry Smith, Assistant Director of Commercial at IWM commented: “Imperial War Museums is a family of museums that tell the story of conflict from the First World War to the present day. Each of our museums are unique; from a Second World War airfield, Churchill’s secret underground bunker, through to a light cruiser battle ship moored in the heart of London. They provide captivating and special settings, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership with Lime Venue Portfolio.”
