RIBA Venues welcomes over 200 event organisers for Speakeasy themed venue showcase

RIBA Venues, the conference and events arm of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), based at 66 Portland Place, met with over 200 event organisers last week to showcase the venue.
The Speakeasy themed event included 1930s entertainment from jazz band Jivin Miss Daisy, health and wellness at events tips from inspirational speaker Nikki Cooper from Inner Me as well as a unique food concept, the Taste Bud Challenge.

The Taste Bud Challenge was a back-to-front buffet where no food was what it seemed. Mushroom soup was disguised as coffee, carrot cake as sandwiches and mango panna cotta as boiled eggs.

There was also a mobile hair company who treated female guests to a 1930s hair makeover.

RIBA Venues’ Head of Venues Stephanie Ellrott says: “We were delighted to see so many meeting planners at our Speakeasy event last night.

“It was a great opportunity for us to showcase what the venue offers with a few surprises along the way.

“The thank you e-mails are already rolling with comments like. ‘I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the wonderful party last night. Every detail of the party went above and beyond, from start to finish’.”
