#ISESAccelerate trends as inaugural conference wows delegates

The inaugural ISES Accelerate conference gave over 160 event professionals a jam-packed and thought-provoking day (Friday 15 May) as a selection of international speakers took to the stage to prove how industry creativity accelerates business growth.
The ISES UK conference allowed delegates to network with like-minded professionals while key speakers shared global event experiences and ideas with the central theme of creativity.

Opening the conference were two international professionals at the top of their game, Colja Dams, CEO at VOK DAMS who entertained the audience with a behind the scenes explanation from the famous Lamborghini launch event, and King Dahl Executive Director of Event Design at MGM Resorts Event Productions, who proved the extensive planning behind a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas. Both speakers set the scene for the day with unique insights and knowledge from big picture planning to small-scale logistics and staying loyal to a brand’s image.

Following a networking coffee break, conference host Simon Burton took to the stage to interview Caprice Bourret, international business woman and model, who revealed the power of social media and how becoming a mother has revolutionised her creative process. Caprice preceded Kevin Jackson, who led delegates through his personal journey centred round his experience during his role in sales with George Johnson.

After a networking lunch break and optional Emirates Stadium tour, former Wales rugby Captain Andy Moore, CEO and Founder of HIRO Talent gave an athlete’s viewpoint on the events industry, explaining how his skills in elite sports have translated into the sector. Former Business Speaker of the Year, Craig Goldblatt, enlightened the audience to how emotions and feelings are integral to a successful event.

As well as keynote speeches and interviews, a panel discussion was held where Circle Agency’s Neil Hooper, Live Union’s Jex Paxman, BLITZ|GES EMEA’s Robert Dunsmore, Smyle’s Matt Margetson, and Glastonbury’s Shangri-La Deborah Armstrong discussed the requirements for a successful event, as well as their favourite brand campaign to date.

To finish off a highly thought provoking line-up, head of customer marketing at Google, Michelle Bryan-Low talked through her career at the global brand; sharing tips on the best live events and Google’s need for external agencies.

Key organiser of ISES Accelerate and co-founder at Event Tech Lab, James Morgan, commented; “The line-up certainly enlightened our audience with creative ideas and practical tips on translating these ideas into real business. I’m confident every member of the audience would have come away with at least one big idea. I hope we can build on the success of this to make it an annual fixture in the sector’s busy calendar.”

The conference followed an opening networking party the night before at Beach Blanket Babylon in Shoreditch, designed by Partridge Events, and preceded a morning venue tour around London on Saturday 16 May.

For those who were unable to attend, the option to live stream the conference was available throughout the day, and is still available, via Glisser.
