More than ten thousand conference and event guests are set to flock to Keele University campus for a scorching summer schedule including weddings, banquets conferences – the University Conferences and Events teams’ busiest ever summer.

The University’s range of venues, including Keele Hall, the 19th Grade II listed building at the heart of the Staffordshire countryside, has attracted more than one hundred bookings for conferences and events between June and September this year – a significant increase on 2014.

Already, 24 banquets, 15 weddings, 25 residential conferences, 30 day long meetings, 40 university hosted events and two summer schools, have been booked. However, the award winning Keele University Conference and Events staff, which include winners at the prestigious University Caterers Awards this year, and the 2,000 still have the ability to welcome more.

Marcus Wilson, head of marketing at Keele University, says: “It’s certainly hotting up for summer at Keele. We’re really looking forward to a busy events programme – in fact it will be so busy that the population of Keele campus would double if all our summer guests appeared at once. However, with events spread out across the summer period and our £300,000 investment in refurbishing accommodation at the Keele Management Centre, there is still plenty of opportunity for more people to plan their conference, wedding or getaway at Keele Hall or any of the venues on campus.”

The busy summer is headlined by the prestigious UK Corporate Games which will attract more than a thousand guests to the Keele University campus alone and is to be held with other venues across Staffordshire. It is estimated that the nationally recognised competition could bring an extra £2.5million to the region during the few days the event is on.

“We are particularly looking forward to a very lively campus when the UK Corporate Games arrives at Keele in June and when we host two International Summer Schools. We’re certain this is going to be a great summer to be on campus with activities ranging from team sports to outdoor and indoor education.”
