Estonian President to kick off top-level music industry conference

Tallinn Music Week's two-day industry conference, an event that's expected to attract as many as 800 music business professionals, is set for a high-profile warm-up act: Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves himself will deliver the opening address on March 27th.

Inspirational artistic figures and music business mavericks that have helped to shape the face of pop music will be at the forefront of the event, which takes place at the Nordic Hotel Forum.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, with discussions focusing on the social responsibility of cultural organisations, the way creative cities work and how to offer open-minded, multi-genre approaches to new audiences. New features of the conference this year will be a dedicated panel of presentations and discussions on how to get music into films and commercials, and a Speed-Meeting session, hosted by Music Estonia, to help regional music companies make one-on-one contact with high-level players in the international music industry.

The industry conference is being held in conjunction with the wider Tallinn Music Week, a combination music festival and networking event taking place March 25th-29th.
