Crown & Garter pub, Inkpen, Berkshire re-opens following acquisition by Honesty Group

The Honesty Group, founded by cookery writer Romilla Arber, acquired the Crown & Garter Pub with Rooms in Inkpen, Berkshire earlier this year and following a grand scale renovation, has re-opened.  The Honesty Group has completely transformed the Crown & Garter, making it a warm and welcoming place with 10 stylish, individually designed rooms. 

The Head Chef is former Claridge’s Chef, Matthew Ambrose who shares Romilla’s passion for good food, simply cooked, nothing too fussy.  Menus are comprised of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and everything is made from scratch on site including condiments, bread and butter. 

Managed by Tiago Figueiredo, the Crown & Garter is the latest in the Group’s endeavours, and will fall under their ‘Food and Rooms’ division. In addition to the pub and rooms is the on-site bakery which prepares and bakes all items fresh, daily.  Headed by Baker/Pastry Chef Robert Rodrigues, the bakery offers patrons freshly-baked pastries, cakes, cookies and artisan bread and sandwiches.

Each of the 10 rooms are individually designed by local company, 03 Interiors and comprise of Hypos beds which form the main feature of the room, Andrew Martin fabrics and wall coverings by Designers Guild, whilst the walls were painted by ‘Little Greene Paints’. Contemporary shower rooms complete each deluxe room. All rooms have free WIFI internet access and flat screen televisions.  In room tea and coffee facilities are available via the ‘Tea and Coffee Fairy’ who will visit you upon request. All rooms are £120.00 per room per night.  Rooms nine and ten are interconnecting and are suitable for families with small children.

Situated on the National Cycle Route 4, The Crown and Garter is close to the Royal Berkshire Shooting School and the fisheries of Barton Court and Denford. The Crown & Garter can cater for shooting, fishing, walking and cycling parties of up to 20 people.

The Crown and Garter hours of operation are as follows:
The Pub: Monday to Friday, 1200 - 2300; Weekends, 1100 - 2300
The Bakery: Tuesday to Sunday, 0830 – 1630 (*closed Monday)

Patrons can enjoy scrumptious breakfasts from 0700 to 0900 during the week and 0830 to 1030 on weekends. Lunch is served from 12noon to 3pm, with dinner available from 1830 to 2200 (*last orders 2130).
