ADNEC to host landmark edition of Middle East’s largest oil and gas event

Energy sector giants to gather at Abu Dhabi’s National Exhibition Centre for 30th anniversary of ADIPEC

Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) will host a landmark edition of the region’s largest oil and gas event, the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the event will welcome a record number of national and international oil companies to celebrate 30 years as a world leading oil and gas event.

Inaugurated in 1984, the conference, now in its 17th edition, was re-launched last year as an annual event. Addressing the theme of ‘Challenges and Opportunities for the Next 30 Years’, this year’s exhibition and conference takes place from 10-13 November. More than 60,000 visitors are expected from 127 countries. The conference and exhibition will be organised by dmg events – a long-term strategic partner of ADNEC.

ADNEC is fast developing into a host of the region – and the world’s – largest and most important energy events. ADIPEC will be bigger this year, by 25 percent. In January next year, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, including the World Future Energy Summit will welcome 30,000 future energy and clean technology professionals. And earlier this month, Abu Dhabi was confirmed as the host of the World Energy Congress 2019, which will take place at ADNEC. Humaid Al Dhaheri, Acting Group CEO of ADNEC, said: "We are excited to be hosting this milestone edition of ADIPEC. The event has grown into the most important energy events outside of North America, and that is testament its organisers and sponsors.

“ADIPEC, together with next year’s World Future Energy Summit and the recent announcement about World Energy Congress in 2019, demonstrates that our facility is providing a gateway to the energy future. And it continues to grow as a meeting place, where leaders from all corners of our energy world can exchange ideas and knowledge to progress this critically important sector.”

Regarded as one of the top three energy events in the world, the conference will host 16 National Oil Companies (NOCs) and 17 International Oil Companies (IOCs), confirming the position of ADIPEC as a leading forum for debate on hydrocarbons and a platform with global reach. Among the new companies participating, the conference and exhibition will welcome LUKOIL from Russia and ENI from Italy. In addition, Asian representation is strong with PERTAMINA and SKK Migas from Indonesia GS Energy from Korea. LUKOIL (Russia), Chevron (USA) and ENI (Italy).

This year sees the addition of a seventh and new category to the ADIPEC awards, the Best Oilfield Services Company Award, which rewards exceptional service to the region's oil and gas industry, based on ethical and sustainable practice, adherence to timelines, cost control, and overall value.

As the region’s leading conference and exhibition centre, ADNEC is well equipped to stage a major event such as ADIPEC. Opened in February 2007 as a global event hub, ADNEC is consolidating its reputation as the venue of choice for the energy sector’s most high profile annual meetings. Reflecting its leading status in Abu Dhabi’s business tourism sector, ADNEC also offers a diverse range of conferences, expos and fairs on issues such as health, entertainment, investment opportunities, water sustainability and community awareness.

With more than 1.5 million visitors last year alone, ADNEC has played a key role in helping Abu Dhabi to rise to near the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) top 100 busiest global meetings destinations.
