Battle of Waterloo to be re-enacted in June 2015

Corporate packages available for Bicentenary participation

Sunday, 18 June 1815 is one of the few dates that very many people remember from school history lessons. It is especially relevant in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Russia and Austria, as well as most other parts of Europe. It also impacted on the world at large. The Battle of Waterloo was fought on that day and so its Bicentenary is now well and truly on the horizon.

The French army under Napoleon battled against the combined armies of Britain, Prussia, Russia and Austria and it was fought at Waterloo, South West of Brussels.

The outcome of that battle has influenced the politics and structure of Europe ever since and its Bicentenary is already arousing the attention it merits.

Corporate organisers can link into this historic event, providing their groups with an unrivalled experience, excitement and a great sense of participation in something on which the attention of the world will be focussing. The Battle of Waterloo is to be reconstructed and played out on a massive scale next June on the very soil where the armies did the fighting.

Waterloo 2015, a non-profit organisation, is holding a 3-day event. June 18 2015 will see the setting-up of the bivouac encampments with an official commemoration and an evening Son et Lumiere show. On Friday June 19 there will be a re-enactment of a phase of the battle; with a final phase re-enacted on Saturday June 20.

The whole occasion will be spectacular, with over 5,000 people taking part in authentic dress and with 300 horses. It is estimated that there will be an audience of at least 50,000.

The Waterloo 2015 enterprise is offering participation at three levels: Tickets for seated or standing viewing; Group or Individual VIP Packages; Visits of the bivouacs and museums.
