Twickenham secures inaugural Quiet Cities global summit

Twickenham Experience has secured the contract to host the first ever Quiet Cities Global Summit on November 25th and 26th 2014. The two-day summit will see 200 delegates from around the world convene in Twickenham to focus on enabling quieter delivery of freight in urban environments. Key stakeholders including Transport for London, DHL, logistics operators, regulators and academics from around the world will discuss how out-of-hours deliveries can become a normal part of the supply chain.

Organised by Road Transport Media, the conference will make use of Twickenham’s Elgar Suite for plenary sessions in addition to an expo area in the Shakespeare Suite. Delegates will dine in the atmospheric Spirit of Rugby Room and make use of the on-site Marriott Hotel adjacent to the stadium. An external expo in the West Fan Village Area immediately outside the stadium will also be used to showcase quiet vehicles and equipment as part of the summit.

Laura Hailstone, Quiet Cities Project Manager at Road Transport Media, says: “We are delighted that our first ever summit will take place at Twickenham Stadium. Its location close to Heathrow is particularly appealing for our international delegates and the range of facilities means that we can accommodate all our requirements, including an external expo. ”

Samme Allen, Head of Conference and Event Sales at Twickenham Experience, adds: “This is a fantastic win for Twickenham and supports our international standing as a leading conference facility for international events. Our ability to accommodate a large external expo in addition to providing conference and dining facilities has been critical in securing this opportunity and we look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to Twickenham.”
