The Lakes Distillery opens its doors to visitors for the first time

The new Lakes Distillery in Cumbria is this week opening its doors to visitors for the very first time.
The Lakes Distillery, bistro & bar, shop and tours will open to the public in December this year, but in the meantime the distillery has launched a brand new Pre-opening Visitor Reception.

Situated in the house next to the distillery’s idyllic site on a former Victorian model farm, the Pre-opening Visitor Reception will welcome visitors from 11am until 4pm every day, allowing them to see progress at the distillery as it develops, find out all about the distillery’s story so far, enjoy a complimentary tasting of The ONE and indulge in a bit of retail therapy at its shop.

Katie Read, business development manager for The Lakes Distillery, said: “We are pleased we can start to welcome visitors to the distillery and we can’t wait to show off our progress.  We know that locals and tourists alike are keen to see what’s happening at the site and so we are eager to welcome them, answer their questions and even offer a taste of The ONE – our delicious British blended whisky.

“Our Pre-opening Visitor Reception is now open and costs nothing, visits are free of charge so it’s a great excuse to come and see what we’re all about.  We look forward to welcoming our guests.”

Progress at the site is well underway with a brand new boiler recently installed and beautiful Buttermere and Westmorland slate currently being put into place on the distillery roof.  Next month, distillery staff will travel to Spain to oversee production of bespoke casks and in the middle of June the distillery plant will be delivered to the site, meaning production can start soon after.

A series of webcams have also been installed at the distillery, allowing people to view progress as it happens.
