Hong Kong launches new products and upgraded MICE rewards at IMEX Frankfurt 2018

Meetings and Exhibitions Hong Kong (MEHK) will reinforce the city’s position as a dominant player in the MICE industry during this year’s IMEX Frankfurt. Hot on the heels of a successful 2017, where the city welcomed over 1.9 million overnight MICE arrivals, Hong Kong’s appeal as a MICE destination is set to soar this year.

A significant enhancement of connectivity, the addition of new venue spaces and attractions, and the upgraded 2018/19 Hong Kong Rewards! Programme offer MICE organisers more reasons to choose Hong Kong.

“Hong Kong is at the centre of Asia’s booming economy, and its appeal as a world-class MICE destination is boundless. The completion of mega infrastructures alongside new offerings popping up around the city enables MICE travellers to enjoy the return on time and money invested. More intangibly, the MICE rewards will elevate their experience of Hong Kong to new heights.” said Kenneth Wong, General Manager, MICE and Cruise Division of the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

An enhancement on connectivity: By the end of this year, the city will be more accessible than ever with increased airlift direct to Hong Kong from Europe. The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, to be opened imminently, will cut journey times down to just half an hour between Hong Kong and Macau, while the Guangzhou to Hong Kong Express Rail Link will connect the two cities in only 48 minutes.

New venue spaces and attractions for MICE travellers:
l   Tai Kwun, the former Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison, is scheduled to open in mid-2018.The three declared monuments with more than 170 years of history, are being revitalised as an integrated arts and heritage hub which will be home to galleries, small-scaled exhibitions spaces as well as a theatre with over 200 seats

With a seating capacity of close to 1,000 people, it is ideal for large-scale events. The theme park will also welcome Hong Kong’s first year-round, all-weather water park in 2019. Water World will also be the first and only waterfront water park in South East Asia

l   Over on Lantau Island, Hong Kong Disneyland will begin its six-year expansion programme (2018 to 2023) to add themed zones based on the blockbuster film Frozen; Marvel superhero films; and the new Sleeping Beauty Castle. The first new experience to be launched will be the Moana stage show, featuring the latest heroine from Walt Disney Animation Studios. It is set to debut in Adventureland in mid-2018
