Business travellers demand stronger connectivity and flexibility across UK rail network

From flexible booking and an increase in free wifi access, to adoption of rail operator apps and support for HS2, today’s business travellers have stated their views on the current state of the UK rail network. The findings are detailed in the Business Rail Travel research report published today by the GTMC and conducted by Audiencenet.

Couples receive up to £640 per couple in added value in biggest savings of the year
 Rocky Mountaineer has launched its Early Booking Bonus for guests planning to travel to Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest onboard the world-renowned luxury train in 2018. Early birds who book eligible 2018 packages of eight nights or more between now and 25 August 2017 will receive added value of up to £640 per couple to enhance their Canadian adventure.

Young business travellers reject nationalisation

Just six per cent of young business travellers, aged 18-34 are in favour of nationalisation of the UK rail network. This generational split saw more than twice as many (15 per cent) 50-59 year-olds supporting nationalisation as the fairest action for Government to take when a train operating company has a consistently poor satisfaction rating with passengers over several years.

Eurostar launches its new state-of- the-art e320 trains on London-Brussels route

Major investment in the Eurostar fleet, stations and service 
Eurostar, the high-speed rail service between the UK and mainland Europe, previewed its new e320 train on the London-Brussels route in advance of its introduction into service on Sunday 28 May.
The arrival of the new trains on the Brussels service is part of a £1 billion programme of investment in Eurostar’s fleet, stations and service which included the purchase of 17 new e320 trains and the refurbishment of its original trains.

Eurostar reports a strong performance in quarter 1 2017

Sales revenues and passenger numbers up year-on-year
Eurostar, the high-speed rail service between the UK and mainland Europe, today reported a positive first quarter in 2017.  Sales revenues were up 15% year-on-year (£232 million 2017: £201 million 2016) underpinned by a strong performance in the business travel and overseas markets.  Passenger numbers for the period were up by 2% (2.27m 2017: 2.23m 2016).
