The Mermaid to host live screenings during 2014 FIFA World Cup

The Mermaid Conference and Events Centre will be hosting live screenings of the World Cup matches this summer.
Throughout the 2014 FIFA World Cup (12 June - 13 July), event organisers will be able to book live screenings hosted at The Mermaid. Football fans can watch the games in any of The Mermaid’s six event spaces, ranging from the newly refurbished river rooms, overlooking the Thames, to the Auditorium, offering tiered seating for up to 600 guests.

Renewable energy community heads to Daegu for green energy event

Since its debut at the world’s first International Solar Cities Initiative (ISCI) Congress in 2004, Korea’s foremost renewable energy event, Daegu will host the International Green Energy Expo & Conference (IGEEC) from 2-4 April 2014. This year marks the international event’s 11th year in Daegu.
According to Invest Korea, the South Korean government has set a goal of becoming the world’s fifth largest renewable energy powerhouse by 2015. Photovoltaic (PV) and wind power are anticipated to be the next generation growth engines for the country with 15% global market shares by 2015.

Wembley Stadium Connected by EE Unveils new M&E Menus

Wembley Stadium connected by EE unveiled this season’s new hospitality menus for Meetings & Events across the venue at a special showcase and networking event.
100 guests, industry professionals, agencies and corporate buyers were hosted at a special menu tasting in the Stadium’s Pitch View Room – one of only two dedicated event spaces in the Stadium with direct access to seating on the terrace, and offers panoramic views over the famous Wembley pitch and Stadium bowl.

Major medical workshop bid win for Perth

Broome, Western Australia was recently confirmed as the host destination for the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) Workshop on Wnt Signalling in 2014. A first for Australia, the workshop is anticipated to bring together 200 delegates and an estimated value of $500,000 in direct delegate expenditure into the region.

2014 Brings new convention business to Las Vegas

The Las Vegas economy is expected to receive a multi-million dollar boost this year thanks to the addition of new convention business and the return of rotating shows. The American Library Association’s annual conference and exhibition, American Wind Energy Association’s WINDPOWER and Solar Power International are all scheduled to take place in Las Vegas in 2014 for the first time. These three new shows are expected to bring an estimated 50,000 attendees generating nearly $63 million in local non-gaming economic impact. The destination will also welcome 70 new conventions of at least 500 attendees each during 2014, bringing an estimated 100,000 additional delegates to Las Vegas.
