The Matka Workshop Day to bring Finland and the rest of the world together around travel

Held in conjunction with the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, the largest travel fair in the Nordic countries, the Matka Workshop Day has, over the years, grown into a major international buying and selling event for Finnish travel services. During the day, more than 250 buyers and almost 200 sellers trade with service providers representing destinations in various countries.

The Matka Workshop Day will be held as part of the Matka Nordic Travel Fair 2020 on 15 January 2020, at Messukeskus in Helsinki, and bookings for the event are now being accepted.

At the Matka Workshop Day, travel-industry sellers and buyers gather together for a one-day event, which includes intensive meetings at which participants may be able to sell a significant part of their next year’s offering. The day is especially important for the Finnish tourism industry, as many international buyers come to the event to explore Finnish tourism products and services. In addition to Finnish representatives, the event will feature service providers from elsewhere in the world.

“We have participated in the Matka Workshop Day programme for many years, and have, at the workshop, established good contacts with both Finnish and international companies. Time will tell what emerges from these contacts. We will continue to participate in the Matka Workshop Day programme in the future, as we see the event as a great opportunity to acquire new customers and also to maintain existing customer relationships”, says Michael Horn, managing director of the Le Voyageur tour operator in Madagascar.

“The Matka Workshop Day is an excellent opportunity to check out Finland’s tourism offering and to engage in effective meetings with Finnish and international buyers. The event enables participants to sell tourism products and services to businesses that reach consumers with buying power across Northern Europe. During the week of the fair, participants will also have the opportunity to explore the Matka Nordic Travel Fair programme”, says Maaret Manninen, a project manager for the Matka Workshop Day.
