Make Venues launch Make Food initiative

Make Venues have launched a new initiative to encourage delegates to adopt both healthy and ethical eating standards at the group’s three properties. Make Food is an extension of the company’s new brand identity following its change from EEF Venues earlier this year. As part of the change, the business is committed to challenging standards across the industry, starting with food.

Make Food will focus on a ‘back to basics’ approach where delegates are ‘sold’ healthy food first, but still be given the choice for more indulgent options. On top of this, the group is committed to making even more indulgent options as nutritionally rich as possible.

“We use the word ‘sold’ on purpose, because too often the healthy option is separate from the main menu,” commented David Vaughton, Managing Director, Make Venues. “Throughout our venues we’ve created vibrant, colourful and interesting salad bars that delegates need to walk past before moving on to other options. We want to sell them healthy food and give them more opportunities to choose it.”

“It’s working as well, and underlines that people do want to eat healthy, so long as they are given a viable choice,” continues David. “Equally, we’re realistic that for many delegates a stay at a Make Venue is a treat, and if they want to eat something a little naughtier, that’s fine too. So long as we make sure it’s nutritious, well sourced and ethical. Sometimes you can be good, even if you’re being bad.”

Make Venues has been loyal to its ethics of ‘nutritional, colourful and ethically sourced food’ for some time, and receive outstanding feedback from delegates and event organisers. With consumers increasingly demanding healthier options at business events, this strategy has become the basis of the Make Food promise.
