Hampton Court Palace hosts exclusive dinner for MeetGB, VisitBritain’s flagship MICE showcase

Hampton Court Palace
Hampton Court Palace, one of six palaces cared for by independent charity Historic Royal Palaces, hosted an exclusive gala dinner last Thursday (11 April), welcoming guests from VisitBritain’s flagship MICE showcase, MeetGB (which took place 11-12 April).

Delegates included more than 80 international meeting and event organisers who were able to connect with the UK’s best business event suppliers. Those dining at Hampton Court Palace enjoyed a drinks reception in the stunning Cartoon Gallery, followed by a gala dinner in the iconic Great Hall served by caterers Rhubarb. Guests were also treated to some spectacular historical entertainment provided by Sternberg Clarke and Past Pleasures.

With the palace’s varied events offering spanning daytime meetings in the newly-opened Albemarle Suite, to dining under the medieval hammer-beam ceiling of the Great Hall, guests experienced walking in the footsteps of some of England’s most famous kings and queens.

Milan Thakrar, Commercial Events Business Development Manager at Historic Royal Palaces, said: “We are so excited to have welcomed international guests to experience dinner in Hampton Court Palace; such a quintessentially British landmark. With hundreds of years of history within the palace walls, it provides an incredible atmosphere for guests to mingle – and it’s not every day you get to tread the same ground as King Henry VIII!

“All events we host play their part in ensuring the palaces continue to be well maintained and open for all to enjoy, with income raised from commercial activities reinvested in conservation, public access and educational activities.”

VisitBritain Head of Business Events Kerrin MacPhie said: “The MeetGB gala dinner was a stand-out opportunity for attendees to celebrate the UK’s fantastic business events offering in the world-renowned Hampton Court Palace. This magnificent venue not only demonstrates the outstanding calibre of venues available for events across the UK, it also allows attendees to enjoy an unforgettable experience in an iconic and atmospheric location steeped in royal history and stunning period architecture.

“MeetGB has been designed with global buyers in mind to showcase the quality of the UK’s meetings and events offering, demonstrating VisitBritain’s commitment to growing the sector and leaving delegates in no doubt about the quality, breadth and depth of our business events offer.”
