Milroy's of Soho and Amastan Paris announce whisky takeover

Soho meets Paris - London’s oldest whisky shop Milroy’s of Soho joins forces with Amastan Paris to host bar takeover and whisky tastings at Anouk Paris
Amastan Paris will join forces with Milroy’s of Soho – London’s oldest whisky shop and whisky specialist – and its speakeasy bar The Vault for a week-long ‘Soho meets Paris’ whisky takeover and series of whisky tastings at Anouk from Monday 12th June - Sunday 18th June 2017.

Rejoicing in Paris and Soho’s historic ties, the takeover will feature daily whisky tastings in the evenings, a limited-edition whisky-based cocktail menu and a succession of guest bartenders from famed Parisian and Soho cocktail bars. The collaboration will celebrate old and new and blend Parisian refinement with London’s laid back bar culture, with The Vault’s head bartender Chris Tanner working directly alongside Anouk’s bartenders and guest bartenders throughout the week.  

A programme of daily whisky tastings led by Milroy’s of Soho’s whisky specialists will take place in Anouk from Monday to Saturday from 6.30pm. The tastings will involve a different variety of whisky on each night, from whisky first made by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, to whisky sourced from Douglas Laing, one of Scotland’s legendary independent bottlers.  

A one-off ‘The Vault at Anouk’ cocktail menu will be offered to hotel guests, travellers and Parisians alike throughout the collaboration. Each cocktail on the menu will be made with whiskies served at the tastings, ranging from Milroy’s own bottled blend to Kentucky Buffalo Trace.

When I first met the Milroy’s team, I found their thirst for spirits knowledge and Chris’s passion for his art to be very inspiring. It echoes our candid approach at Amastan in sharing our craft with pride with our guests. And who can resist Chris’s coconut-butter fat-washed old fashioned?”  

Chris Tanner, head bartender at The Vault, says on the partnership: “We’re excited to temporarily move Milroy’s and The Vault across the Channel and create a one-of-a-kind experience for Anouk and Amastan’s guests. Along with our bartender friends from London and Paris, we hope to bring something truly special to Paris.”
