Wickham House, Newbury Berkshire: A positive first year of operation drives new offerings for the MICE sector

October 2015 saw the privately owned country estate, Wickham House open its doors for the first time to the corporate market, offering a new, high-end and exclusive-use out of town venue for a broad range of executive events – from an intimate networking drinks reception to a large scale incentive off-site.

Just one year on with a portfolio of discerning brands including Vodafone and Microsoft as well as top agents such as Powwow Events, Group7Events, Zibrant, Grassroots, Reed & Mackay, AOK and Quintessentially having all enjoyed what it has to offer, the business enters its second year of operation introducing some exciting new options to extend its overall proposition.

Wickham House’s combination of easy access from the capital and London Heathrow, a secure and tranquil country setting, efficient technology, innovative activities and partnerships, delectable cuisine and superb hosts, delivers a much sought-after venue in which to strategise, team-build, incentivise and reward. Event spaces include:
• THE BARN – a super-stylish, recently built solid oak-framed barn providing a flexible space including bar, mezzanine, fibre optic broadband, projector with white screen and a 55" TV screen. It can accommodate up to 24 delegates in a seated format and 80 standing.
• THE PAVILION & WALLED GARDEN- only available between May and September inclusive, this stunning al fresco area can be utilised as an add-on to the Barn for day-time business meetings, or equally available to hire for larger scale corporate entertainment. The Pavilion holds up to 12 delegates, extendable with a marquee to hold 36 delegates and is an ideal space for team break-out sessions, whilst the breath-taking Walled Garden is a unique location to host larger scale events such as product launches or receptions for up to 100.
•THE DINING ROOM – for a more formal option, the Dining Room in the main house offers a grand setting in which 16 persons can, celebrate an important event or mark the departure of a valued colleague in elegant surroundings.
•THE MARQUEE SITE – a six acre site generously positioned in front of the main house, which can accommodate structures of any shape and size and up to 400 persons. Parking for 250 cars is available in an adjacent site but out of view

New for 2017:
• FAMILY FUN DAYS – partnering with both Blue Hat and ACF Team Building, on a site of approximately 15 acres, the Wickham House setting allows for events attended by up to 1500 persons.

• DEVELOPMENTAL WORKSHOPS FOR SENIOR MANAGEMENT – working in conjunction with Poisson Rouge’s Mark Katz, a leadership development facilitator with over 30 years’ experience, impactful programmes have been created. This offering can be purchased and attended exclusively or on an individual basis.

With space at a premium, the Wickham House estate affords the opportunity to enjoy a broad range of activities throughout the course of any event. These include swimming, tennis and tennis coaching, archery, clay pigeon shooting, fishing on the Kennet or Lambourn (subject to availability) and country walks. There are also some fabulous sites within a 30 mile radius including Winchester, Oxford, Windsor & Eton, Stonehenge and the Bombay Sapphire Distillery.

Whilst accommodation is not available within the estate grounds, Wickham House is affiliated to a number of suppliers including the five-star boutique hotel The Vineyard (3 miles from Wickham House)and its four star sister property The Donnington Valley Hotel (6 miles away), as well as a number of local and reputable pubs-with-rooms all within 10 minutes drive. Glamping is also an option.
