The event will take place on the 29th September in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund. Over 200 guests will be welcomed to the venue's Jarvis auditorium to enjoy an evening reception with drinks and canapés
Television and radio presenter Clare Balding will host the evening with special guest speakers Victoria Pendleton, multiple Olympic gold and silver medallist, and AP McCoy, 20 times Champion Jockey and Sports Personality of the Year in 2010. Throughout the evening both sporting icons will talk about the highs and lows, injuries, accolades and success of their careers.
The Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) is a charity that works to help injured jockeys and their families by providing both short and long term support in areas where it is needed. The IJF also works with racing authorities and other organisations on a number of initiatives to fund on course physios, medical services and research into riding protection equipment for jockeys. Since being established in 1964, the Fund has helped over 1,000 jockeys and their families and has paid out more than £18m in charitable assistance.
Communications spokesperson for the Injured Jockeys Fund Liz Ampairee comments: "We were very impressed with the facilities on offer at the venue as well as the professional and friendly manner of the staff. The beautiful and open space of the Jarvis auditorium is the perfect location for our event."
RIBA Venues Sales & Marketing Manager Kirsten Kruls adds: "We are delighted to welcome the Sporting Mind to RIBA Venues for the very first time. With the 2016 Olympics having just come to a close, it is great to be able to support such an important cause that helps and funds injured athletes."
