Anguilla Watersports making a splash with the largest aqua park of its kind in the Caribbean

Anguilla Watersports has once again added to its collection of first-class service offerings with the opening of the Aqua Park, the largest inflatable water park of its kind in the Caribbean.
The Aqua Park is something never before seen on the shores of Anguilla or any of its neighbouring islands, and will be a fun and safe family-friendly attraction on Cove Bay Beach in front of Smokey’s At-The-Cove, a popular eatery and beach hangout.

The Aqua Park measures 100 feet by 100 feet, and consists of interconnected trampolines, slides, and climbing structures. It is open 365 days a year for children aged from 6 years (48 inches) and hours of operation are from 10am-6pm. Daily rates are $50 for visitors and $30 for residents. Half days are from 10am to 2pm or 2pm to 6pm and are $40 for visitors and $25 for residents.

Annual resident passes will also be available.

Anguilla Watersports’ founding president Mr. Judson Burdon is enthusiastic “Activities for children in Anguilla are somewhat limited, therefore at Anguilla Watersports we strive to come up with new ways for children to be outdoors and to experience their natural environment, and what better way than on the water developing their swimming skills whilst interacting with other children? This isn’t just a water park, it will be an asset that will give every Anguillian child and family – as well as anyone visiting the island – a renewed interest in getting into the water, in addition to having a blast out there in complete safety”.

Burdon continues “Safety is paramount as with all of our watersports activities in Anguilla. The Aqua Park is under constant supervision by 3 full time lifeguards who are all Red Cross water safety rescue and first aid trained. In addition, all participants are required to wear lifejackets, regardless of their swimming ability.”

Once the Aqua Park is established, Burdon plans to bring much-needed tourism to the island in the form of visitors from neighbouring Caribbean islands “Anguilla is solely dependent on tourism and we all need to do our bit to encourage growth of the island for the future of our children”. During his conversation with Mr. Burdon, the Hon. Cardigan Connor, Parliamentary Secretary Responsible for Tourism, Sports, Youth & Culture in Anguilla, said he was excited about the project. “It’s exciting to see so much enthusiasm going into the Aqua Park, which will be a huge attraction for both locals and visitors. I really love seeing people out in the water keeping fit and spending time with their families, and the Aqua Park will provide an ideal opportunity for this. I am confident that Mr. Burdon and his stellar team will succeed in bringing a much-welcome and safe attraction to our island. The fact that it will bear the island’s colours, quite literally, adds a beautiful flair,” he concluded. The Aqua Park official Grand Opening is on Saturday April 2nd, 2016 at Smokey’s Restaurant. A soft launch started on March 25th, 2016 and is welcoming a limited number of guests. About Anguilla Watersports: Anguilla Watersports was created in 2014 by Judson Burdon, its founding president.
