UK’s biggest tourism conference to take centre stage in York

The spotlight is set to fall on the York Barbican next month when exciting plans for Yorkshire are announced at the biggest tourism conference in the UK.
Welcome to Yorkshire will host the annual Y16 event where new campaigns, initiatives and projects will be unveiled on Wednesday March 23.

The announcements are being kept under wraps but expect some special guests and headline announcements.

Around 1,000 people are set to attend the event which will run like a live TV show and is hosted by national sports presenter Rob Walker.

Previous Y conferences have welcomed a range of famous faces from Last Tango in Halifax Star Dean Andrews to Paralympic superstar Hannah Cockroft MBE – and even the Deputy Prime Minister.

Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “This is a not-to-be-missed chance to get businesses across Yorkshire together to showcase what’s planned for the year ahead and make no mistake, it’s going to be another exciting year!

“Y16 promises to inspire and entertain and bring the great and good of Yorkshire tourism together to make things happen!”
