Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre undergoes major redevelopment

Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre
Conveniently located just off the A38 at Buckfastleigh, Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre is currently undergoing a major redevelopment programme with investment in a 32-bed Northgate House; high-end hotel style accommodation. This makes multiple-day business breaks at Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre possible and, with planned updates to the conference venue, should be appealing to a much broader audience.

Jonathan Deacon, Financial Director at Buckfast Abbey, explains: “The creation of the new accommodation is in response to demand from conference organisers wanting the option to host events over multiple days at our venue. We have already shown the plans to existing clients and it’s been brilliantly received. Northgate House is a great addition to our accommodation offering, as it is ideal for larger groups and offers a more sophisticated hotel experience to delegates.”

With nowhere else quite like it in Devon, Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre offers conference organisers and delegates a unique environment for events. It combines flexible meeting and conference facilities and tranquil, inspiring surroundings – with the rooms enjoying the backdrop of the Abbey or its gardens. It is conveniently situated on the edge of Dartmoor, between Plymouth and Exeter, and only minutes off the A38.

Set in beautifully maintained grounds, the Conference Centre has eight seminar rooms, an exclusive boardroom and 150-seater hall with flexible seating, complete AV facilities and break-out access to the gardens.

Paul German, conference organiser from The Institution of Lighting Engineers Western region, says: “The setup is ideal for break-out sessions with various indoor and outdoor spaces perfect for delegates. It was great to have the opportunity to unwind and take a walk around the sensory and lavender gardens. The overall experience really is different to anything else I have looked at in the area.”

Central to its offering is giving conference catering a great name, with food remaining very much at the heart of its appeal. Mouthwatering homemade food is made on the premises, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients – from freshly baked pastries, delicious cakes and homemade lunches. The tasty meals, cooked by the Buckfast Abbey chefs, can be enjoyed with views out over the Abbey Church and its grounds. Delegates can relax in comfort, as a break from the busy agenda of the day.

The team at Buckfast Abbey Conference Centre believes in making both the organiser’s and delegate’s day as hassle-free and straight-forward as possible. The simple, competitive, all-inclusive delegate rate can help with budget management, as there are no hidden costs. Free parking is another great draw, with ample space for attendees.

Becky Morgan, Programme Support Officer from NHS Foundation Trust, recently hosted an event at BACC. Becky says: “I was very impressed with the organisation of the day, which really helped things to run smoothly and make my job a lot easier! The staff were friendly and helpful and the catering of an excellent standard.”

The dedicated, attentive conference and catering team are on hand to look after guests and create a seamless, successful event, to ensure delegates leave refreshed and inspired.
