Lord Mayor of City of London visits Oman

Alderman Alan Yarrow, Lord Mayor of the City of London, is visiting Oman from 21 to 24 January 2015 as an ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services. Lord Mayor Yarrow is meeting with senior government officials, business leaders, investment authorities, and representatives from the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) with a view to cementing the already strong business ties between the two countries.

Speaking about the visit, Lord Mayor Yarrow said: "The UK remains committed to developing our economic relationship with Oman. As the country continues with their ambitious infrastructure plans and presses ahead with diversifying their economy, the UK stands ready to support Oman."

The Lord Mayor is accompanied by a UK delegation comprising senior officials from investment banks, asset management companies, insurance brokers and law firms, allowing for industry experts from both countries to come together to discuss investment opportunities, Islamic Finance initiatives, infrastructure projects, technology in finance, and commercial partnerships.

As above he added: "Our financial and professional services firms have a wealth of expertise and experience in a wide range of financing options which can help the two-way flow of capital. I hope that this closer economic relationship means that the UK remains the partner of choice for Oman on the global financial stage."
