Howzat for a spot of Team Building at Emirates Old Trafford

Team Building Day
When Salford based Brain and Spinal Injury Centre (BASIC) entered Emirates Old Trafford’s twitter competition to win a Team Building Day at the venue, they could not have guessed how much fun they would have and how much they would enjoy the activity.

The Boardroom and Bowling package won by BASIC included the use of meeting facilities in the AJ Bell Players & Media Centre, their own personal event manager throughout the day, lunch, 3 hours of coaching and games led by fully England Cricket Board (ECB) qualified staff.

More and more companies are now using team building as a vital tool to improve many things in the workplace which can help reduce conflict, improve communications and produce a greater sense of camaraderie. Team building activities, whether they are five-minute games or week-long retreats teach essential skills, help employees develop trust in each other and each other’s abilities.

Commenting on the day BASIC’s Fundraiser Andy Golightly said: “We had not had an away day for two years so winning this competition presented us with the perfect opportunity to get the team together and discuss our future strategy.”

Andy adds: “The day was brilliant from start to finish! The Players’ Lounge was first class for the conferencing facilities and the food was delicious. The cricket coaches got everyone involved in the coaching and games session and I would thoroughly recommend this as a unique team building day”

Angela Hodson, venue sales manager at Emirates Old Trafford said: “The team from BASIC held their meeting in the AJ Bell Players & Media Centre. The Centre has a wide variety of customisable space, ranging from smaller rooms ideal for one-to-one interviews to larger spaces accommodating up to 120, making it perfect for corporate workshops, away days, meetings and events. In addition to the quality of space and world class facilities the panoramic views of the famous Old Trafford Cricket pitch are magnificent and certain to inspire.

The Boardroom and Bowling package won by BASIC included teas, coffee and a selection of mini pastries on arrival followed by an afternoon break and lunch. The cricket took place in Emirates Old Trafford’s Indoor Cricket Centre where and began with a gentle warm up and ice breaker. This was followed by practise batting, bowling, wicket keeping and fielding. All this is supervised by the Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) coaches who are fully English Cricket Board (ECB) trained.
