Fans of Le Tour will be able to purchase official merchandise including the new, limited edition cycling jersey, from pop up shops in Trinity Leeds and Meadowhall Shopping Centre Sheffield.
The pop up shops give fans a chance to immerse themselves in the world’s greatest annual sporting event before the race begins. The shops will be decked out in yellow, green, white, and red polka dots to reflect the jerseys which are so hard fought over in July, and will also feature images of Tours past and present.
Visitors to the shops will find cycling jerseys, hoodies, t-shirts, caps, flasks, tote bags, mugs and even spokey dokies for your wheels, as well as the limited edition jersey.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “It’s so exciting to announce the launch of these pop up shops in partnership with Trinity Leeds and Meadowhall Shopping Centre Sheffield. Together we’re taking, for the first time, official merchandise of the Tour and Grand Départ into two of Yorkshire’s most iconic shopping centres.”
Paul Smith, Marketing Manager, Trinity Leeds, said: “The Grand Départ presents a fantastic opportunity for Leeds and the wider region and to be involved in any way is fantastic. We are delighted that Trinity Leeds is hosting the Grand Départ pop-up store where shoppers and cycling fans can pick up all sorts of great merchandise for this special occasion”
Meadowhall’s Events and Retail Promotions Manager, Alex Caley said: “We are delighted to be hosting the Welcome to Yorkshire pop up store, offering shoppers the chance to get into the spirit of this monumental sporting event. We hope that shoppers take this opportunity to come into the centre to get their hands on their very own little memento of Yorkshire sporting history. How great that everyone can come to spectate as the race passes Meadowhall in their very own Welcome to Yorkshire limited edition jersey.
“The Tour de France arriving in Sheffield is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities so we are understandably excited to be working in partnership with Welcome to Yorkshire on this project, along with a host of other activities taking place in the lead up, culminating in a big finale with the Meadowhall Fan Fest event on the 6th July as the race passes by.”
The shop’s opening hours will be the same as the centre’s and both will be open until mid July:
