A unique opportunity to race at top Olympic venue, Dorney LakeBuilding on the success of the inaugural Dorney Lake Corporate Dragon Boat Challenge, professional event organisers, Gable Events, have launched the second Challenge to be staged at the London 2012 Olympic rowing and canoeing venue and are inviting companies throughout the Thames Valley region and beyond to enter teams in this unique event. This exciting team building challenge takes place on Wednesday 2nd July and provides a great afternoon of corporate entertainment and hospitality with races every 10 minutes, a gourmet BBQ, bar and fun side activities.
More than 30 crews are expected to battle it out over the 200m Olympic race course watched by hundreds of colleagues and spectators. Dorney Lake is a modern, world class facility and was voted top Olympic venue in 2012 by an exit poll of spectators. It was also one of the most successful venues for Team GB with 12 medals won in rowing and sprint canoeing including six golds!
No previous experience is required to emulate your Olympic heroes at this superb venue, just plenty of team spirit so why not take up the challenge? Thankfully, you don’t need the physical strength of a Steve Redgrave or the athleticism of a Jessica Ennis-Hill to be successful in dragon boat racing as teamwork, timing (and of course a little bit of luck!) will win the day. The dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment are provided and each crew of up to 11 people is guaranteed a minimum of three races.
A gourmet BBQ is included in the entry for teams and additional tickets are available for guests. Between races you can try your hand at laser clay shooting, experience some fantastic close-up magic and of course enjoy a drink at the bar to celebrate victory! Companies have the option to raise their profile at the event by entering a Gold crew which includes a company logo on both sides of a dragon boat, promotional display and souvenir programme advertising. Dragon boat racing is also a popular fundraising event for charity and entered companies are welcome to use the Challenge to raise sponsorship for their chosen charity if they wish.
