New Exhibition Director for RTE Middle East hails exciting future for region’s meetings and events market

The newly appointed Exhibition Director for Reed Travel Exhibitions Middle East, Danielle Curtis, has commented on the buoyant nature of the MICE market and the exciting opportunities opening up across the region.

Danielle, who has overall responsibility for IBTM Arabia, Arabian Travel Market and associated projects in the region, said: “The meetings and events market in the Middle East is still very much in the ascendant – with confidence in the region continuing to grow, as evidenced by major upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019. As well as increasing diversification in terms of the scope and scale of meetings and events and new industries coming to the Middle East, the region itself is really opening up.

“Countries such as Saudi Arabia and Oman are also increasingly making their mark on the industry and raising their profile as viable destinations, cementing the region’s position as a highly desirable and competitive offering for the events market. As a result of the dynamic nature of the industry here, many exciting opportunities are on the horizon both for IBTM Arabia and the industry as a whole.

“We’re very excited about the future of our events in the region, including for IBTM Arabia, which continues to evolve to meet the needs of our customers, helping them to stay at the forefront of what’s happening in the Middle East by providing valuable business opportunities and inspiring content delivered through the show’s CPD-accredited Knowledge Programme.”

Originally from Australia, Danielle has 15 years’ experience within the events industry including extensive experience working within the IBTM portfolio. She was previously contract Exhibition Manager for Arabian Travel Market, part of Reed Travel Exhibitions, with responsibility for the event strategy of this international travel and tourism exhibition. Prior to this, Danielle was Event Manager for The Hotel Show Dubai and Global Head of Sales for the IBTM portfolio.

Shane Hannam, Portfolio Director, IBTM, said: “We’re delighted to have Danielle at the helm of IBTM Arabia. Her past experience and in-depth knowledge of the region means she’s very well placed to harness all the opportunities available to us in what is an ever-evolving market. Danielle has already made her mark and I have no doubt that, with her passion and enthusiasm, together with her extensive experience of the events industry and knowledge of the region’s MICE market, she will lead the event from strength to strength.”

IBTM Arabia is part of Reed Travel Exhibitions and is a three-day event in Abu Dhabi focused on uniting global MICE suppliers with highly qualified meeting and event planners. An exclusive one-to-one format event, Hosted Buyers and exhibitors are mutually-matched using IBTM’s bespoke ‘matchmaking’ software, ensuring the best possible chance of meeting people with whom there’s a great chance they’ll do business. The event also features several networking opportunities and a Discovery Day, which allows attendees to network in a relaxed setting while seeing the sites and experiencing the local culture of Abu Dhabi.
