The first edition of ILTM Latin America in Sao Paulo last week welcomed some of the world’s most exciting luxury travel experiences, destinations and brands from over 65 countries, including 80 first time exhibitors. They met with hand-selected luxury travel buyers from 12 Latin American countries including from 20 cities in Brazil, 6 in Mexico and 4 across Colombia.
Delegates at ILTM Latin America’s Opening Ceremony - themed ‘Future Gazing: The Future of Your Business in Latin America’ - heard from Latin American economic expert and author Marcus Troyjo and Latin luxury consumer expert Carlos Ferreirinha that as the region continues its economic growth, the numbers of high-end travellers from countries including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will continue to grow, as will the amount they will spend on arrival.
The event was designed in a new, open and accessible format that was heralded a great success by buyers and exhibitors alike.
Emilia Andreri Aiello of Brazil’s Inspiration Travel commented: “It’s great to see all the exhibitors in such a visual format – incredibly practical and user-friendly. I’ve met with many new suppliers offering experiences from Portugal, Cartagena and Bolivia to name just a few and I know my clients will be very excited to hear about my new discoveries.”
Patricia Caranza of Turismo Exmar in Mexico said: “The layout here is fantastic, not to forget the relaxed atmosphere. The suppliers too are excellent and it’s great to be able to meet new faces as well as see old friends with new news or in new positions.”
And Alejandro Carbona of Argentina’s AT257 added: “I’ve had excellent conversations with representatives from products I had never heard of, let alone met before this week. I now have great ideas from Portugal, the Caribbean, Brazil and Europe for my clients. This is an excellent show and I would love to be invited back.”
Portugal Tourism brought over 40 luxury travel suppliers to ILTM Latin America and Bernardo Cardoso, Director of Portugal Tourism observed: “ILTM Latin America is a vibrant and dynamic event with an outstanding quality of buyers present. The show always delivers great business and we are looking forward to following up with all the many contacts we have met throughout the week. We love this show.”
Qatar Airways’ Rogerio Araujo added: “This is the greatest opportunity to speak directly with the decision making buyers that matter. It’s the most important business forum in the region and totally unmissable for Qatar Airways to share our award winning luxury service.”
Greice Penteado, owner of Brazil’s GP Marketing commented: “The new format has brought the industry even closer together and the quality of the product is as exceptional as always. Very well done ILTM Latin America.”
