The destination marketing organisation for Telford and Shropshire has joined forces with leading event tech specialist Immersive AV and award-winning creative design agency The Round Group to create this truly unique experience - a giant sensory story wall made from cutting-edge conductive ink technology.
When touched, the 6-meter wide wall will come to life. Digital animations and sounds will take people on a journey through the sights, sounds and experiences of Telford and Shropshire as they engage with the touch responsive technology.
Sarah Bird, Destination Tourism Officer for Discover Telford said: “Our aim with this project is to create a new interactive digital approach in event marketing at a time when Telford celebrates 50 years and marks the destination’s coming of age – it’s in our DNA to innovate.”
The initiative is part of the destination organisation’s new campaign to attract more event professionals and business visitors to Telford and Shropshire following ten years of transformational investment and development.
Sarah continued: “Event organisers to our stand at Confex this year will be able to experience our destination in a truly immersive, fun and inspiring way but it’s in sharing the experience that they will realise just why Telford and Shropshire is the perfect choice for their events. We tick all of the boxes with what we offer but it’s the visitor experience that delivers the wow factor. We are a world famous heritage destination and can offer everything from convention centres to castles alongside an amazing visitor offer that includes enriching culture, breath-taking landscapes, adrenalin-packed adventure and great food and hospitality all in the heart of historic England – what’s not to love.
“This is such a fantastic way for us to share the outstanding meeting, incentive, conference and event offer we have here. This is a key time in our future and using technology like this is a game changer and we hope that by using fun and creative approaches like this we can inspire event planners.
The destination is no stranger to innovation and creativity, the birthplace of the industrial revolution, home of the modern Olympics and pioneer of global firsts in forensics to automotive. Today, 50 years since Telford was established and with over 10 years of multi-million-pound investment, the area is now celebrated as one of the UK’s most exciting destinations. More than 5,000 events are held in the region and 12 million visitors choose to visit each year and these figures are rising significantly.
