South African National Convention Bureau to showcase South Africa’s Business Events Capabilities at IBTM World Barcelona

A delegation of 24 South African exhibitors, led by South African Tourism’s Chief Convention Bureau Officer, Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, will showcase South Africa’s vast business events industry products at IBTM World, the premier annual trade show for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry.  

South Africa has representation across the board from hotels, airlines, destination management companies, provincial tourism agencies to provincial convention bureaus, professional conference organisers as well as selected SMME’s from South African Tourism and the National Department of Tourism’s Incentive program.  

These products will be hosted on the South Africa stand.  

South African Tourism will also share successes from an innovative content strategy; “Where Great Minds Meet”. This unique content campaign to the MICE sector, serves to creatively highlight why South Africa is one of the most exciting places on the planet for people to meet, thrive and inspire business growth, while exploring unique travel experiences.    

The 4-part digital experience through short-form films features a host of personalities across sectors – each with the common goal of ensuring South Africa’s long-term prosperity, whilst raising awareness of SANCB’s world-class MICE capabilities, at the same time actively demonstrating South Africa’s authority in hosting world class events.  

“South Africa, over the recent years has consistently been ranked as the top African country in the ICCA rankings which is the global community and knowledge hub for the international association meetings industry,” says Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, Chief Convention Bureau Officer at South African Tourism.  

“The ‘Where Great Minds Meet’ series was one platform we used to showcase the extensive value chain of the business events sector, stimulating economic activity in various sectors,” added Kotze-Nhlapo.  

On day one of IBTM, 19 November, the South African National Convention Bureau together with author and explorer, Levison Wood as well as Head of Content Studio, Karen Murray will host a panel discussion on the insights of the series, as well as why orgainsers should choose South Africa to host their next business event.  

“We want to reassure the global business events industry that South Africa is very much open for business and that hosting meetings and events in South Africa is a must-do,” concluded Nhlapo.
