AECC’s tower goes red this weekend in support of the Scottish Poppy Appeal

Repainting entire streets with an obscure colour scheme

This weekend, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is proud to be taking part in Poppyscotland’s annual initiative which sees iconic buildings lighting up red in support of Remembrance Day.
The North-East Venue joins other buildings and landmarks including The Kelpies, Sterling Castle and Glasgow City Chambers who are all lighting up red this year to support the charity.

Anyone passing the AECC between Friday 7th and Monday 10th November will see the Venue’s Northern Light Tower lit up in poppy-red in order to pay homage and raise awareness of Poppyscotland who raise money to provide vital support to ex-Servicemen, women and their families, supporting veterans of all ages and, increasingly, those from the recent and current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC commented: “AECC are pleased to support this initiative.  The Scottish Poppy Appeal is a very worthy cause, and we are delighted to extend our support in this innovative way.”
