Mount Stuart achieves Taste Our Best accreditation

Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute and its catering partners, Heritage Portfolio, have together scooped Taste Our Best accreditation for the two cafes run for day visitors: the Victorian Tearoom and the Visitor Centre Cafe.

Awarded in recognition of the quality of service, facilities and food, Taste Our Best, represents recognition by tourist board, VisitScotland that a tourism provider is working to a standard of excellence in local and Scottish food. With a focus on the provenance of food as well as how it is cooked and presented, plus the friendliness, professionalism and efficiency of staff, achieving Taste Our Best is an accolade for any business.

Ian D’Annunzio Green, executive director of Heritage Portfolio, comments: “The cafes team at Mount Stuart, as with our other heritage venues, prides itself in excellence throughout. We focus on the freshest of food, all cooked from scratch, and the best in service. This award is a real recognition of the hard work and passion demonstrated by the team.”

Mount Stuart grows its own vegetables and fruit in the walled garden on the estate and works with local producers on the Isle of Bute and nearby. From Richie’s of Rothesay smoked salmon and haddock to Mount Stuart’s own free range eggs, local and fresh are the key ingredients in the success of the partnership between Mount Stuart and creative catering company Heritage Portfolio.

The entrepreneurial Edinburgh-based company, which joined the Centerplate group in January 2014, has become known for the quality of its outside event catering and operating café services at national art galleries and high profile visitor attractions. Heritage Portfolio has provided special event catering services at The Palace of Holyroodhouse since 2002, and last year was granted a Royal Warrant to Her Majesty the Queen as Supplier of Catering Services. Other premier clients served by the company include: the Scottish National Portrait Gallery; the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art; The Signet Library; the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh; Hopetoun House and Musselburgh Racecourse.

Mount Stuart has a range of superb and flexible event spaces which caters for everything from a small team building day to a conference for 200. With 22 bedrooms, Mount Stuart can provide accommodation for up to 37 guests with further self catering accommodation within the 300 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds, making it the perfect venue for exclusive residential events and weddings.
