Hamburgers get a taste of Scotland

Workshop in Germany targets key meetings and incentives market

Businesses in Hamburg will get a unique taste of Scotland tomorrow (Wednesday).
VisitScotland’s Business Tourism Unit (BTU) has organised a special Scottish-themed workshop in the city, giving eight Scottish businesses the platform to meet with events and conference organisers from Germany – one of Scotland’s most important markets in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector.

Around 50 MICE agents will attend the workshop, which will include Scottish food and drink, whisky tasting, pipers and even ghost stories courtesy of Edinburgh-based Mercat Presents. Airline Lufthansa will also be offering a trip to Edinburgh, St Andrews and Aberdeen in a prize draw.

The other Scottish businesses taking part in the event are:
• The Glasshouse, Edinburgh
• Fairmont, St Andrews
• Old Course Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, St Andrews
• Puma Hotels Collection
• Pacific World, Edinburgh
• VisitAberdeen
• K&N Travel Associates Ltd, Edinburgh

Amanda Henderson, Meeting and Incentive Marketing Manager at VisitScotland’s Business Tourism Unit, said: “Hamburg has a strong concentration of MICE buyers and, with the launch last year of a new direct route with easyJet into Edinburgh, it’s a key hub. This Hamburg workshop will give Scottish businesses the chance to build on or establish key relationships with event organisers and incentive houses from Germany. We receive more business tourism enquiries from Germany than from any other country in Europe. They love our culture, the Scottish landscape and, of course, our fantastic range of world-class venues.”
