Sayan Bandyopadhyay (33) originally from India, studied International Hospitality Management at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University before moving to Scotland permanently at the age of 21.
Throughout his career, Sayan has worked up the ranks from Kitchen Porter to Chef de Partie and Junior Sous Chef. His first Head Chef role was at DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen City Centre before later developing his fine dining and leisure catering skills at The Balmoral and Melville Castle hotels in Edinburgh.
Sayan said: “It’s great to be back in Aberdeen and take on my most senior role to date – Executive Chef and Cluster Head Chef for two fantastic brands in Hilton and Aloft, both within such a major development for the city.
“I pride myself on delivering a first class service and leading my team with an approachable and professional manner. I can’t wait to get started in the kitchen, training our team and polishing up our menu offering.”
Mark Leyland, Cluster General Manager, said: “Plans are really ramping up ahead of both hotel openings this summer and we’re delighted to appoint Sayan as our Cluster Head Chef.
“With a number of achievements to his name in Seafood Sustainability, Food and Beverage Operations as well as an appearance on ‘MasterChef: The Professionals’ in 2017, Sayan is a perfect addition to our Aberdeen TECA hotel teams.”
Hilton Aberdeen TECA hotel will offer 200 stylish bedrooms, with exceptional facilities for both residents and non-residents.
