Locke unveils leadership team for first aparthotel

New appointments at SACO’s new aparthotel brand ahead of October launch

Locke, the new aparthotel brand from SACO The Serviced Apartment Company, has unveiled its leadership team for its first property - Leman Locke and the wider Locke operation – with the appointment of General Manager, Ashley Ely and Commercial Manager, Samantha Sheridan.

shley Ely leads the team of 35 as General Manager of Leman Locke, fresh from a similar position at The Zetter Hotel in central London.  

Samantha Sheridan joins SACO as Commercial Manager to support Locke across the UK and beyond, with her primary focus being the launch of Leman Locke in October this year.  

Ashley brings with him a wealth of hospitality experience from across the country, working as Hotel Director at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa and also previously at Gravetye Manor, and will be responsible for all aspects of the Leman Locke property, including guest and employee satisfaction. He will lead and manage the Leman Locke team, comprising of an Assistant Manager, front-desk and housekeeping teams.  

Over the last 15 years Samantha has gained extensive experience in opening hotels across the UK in the boutique and lifestyle sector and specifically for disruptive brands including Yotel and the The Laslett, and most recently with citizenM for over 5 years, leading on their introduction into the UK market.  

Locke is currently recruiting for other posts for Leman Locke and across the wider Locke operation. With the creation of a team of 35 industry professionals for the Leman Locke property, the Locke team will be the pioneers of the new brand, living and breathing both Locke and its Leman Locke property.

Combining the best aspects of boutique hotels and serviced apartments, Locke will deliver an enhanced new concept that meets the needs of today’s modern traveller. The launch of Leman Locke in October creates many job opportunities in the industry, with SACO already working with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in an attempt to recruit at least 20% from the local area.  

Commenting on his appointment, Ashley Ely said: “Locke is a really exciting new aparthotel concept and a fantastic opportunity for me to do something completely different in Central London, allowing me to put over 10 years of experience towards this refreshing new project.  

Samantha Sheridan added: “Leman Locke will mark the start of an ambitious new concept for the aparthotel industry, with exciting opportunities to be a part of this young, dynamic and growing challenge; a very compelling prospect for me.”  

Leman Locke will open on London’s Leman Street in Aldgate in October 2016, with further properties due to be rolled out across the UK and Europe from 2017 onwards.  

Consisting of a total of 168 apartments, divided into 105 studios and 63 one bedroom suites, Leman Locke will also offer guests two sky meeting rooms, the Locke Gym, two bars, all day dining and large amounts of indoor / outdoor lounge area, with ultrafast Wi-Fi throughout to accommodate the modern business traveller.  

SACO currently operates and manages a portfolio of over 900 apartments in cities across the UK, and offers over 80,000 apartments across 260 key destinations in 52 countries through carefully selected partners.
