Mohammed has previously worked at Latimer House, a DeVere venue, and was the recipient of the DeVere Chef of the Year award in 2014. His appointment follows the retirement of Wolfgang Bohler who had been a big part of the Lane End catering team for the past 28 years.
“We are all very excited about Mohammed joining what is an already strong and passionate catering team,” comments Heni Fourie, Director of Sales and Marketing at Lane End Conference Centre. “Wolfgang has been a wonderful member of our team and his shoes are big ones to fill but Mohammed arrives with a strong reputation and a passion to create and deliver excellence. We have a strong belief that our catering must be of the highest standard with everything made on-site and Mohammed has already demonstrated that he will help us continue that fine tradition.”
Four candidates were invited for interviews at Lane End with Mohammed making the last two. As part of the final appointment process, the final two took part in a tray test before Mohammed was selected for the role of Sous Chef at the Buckinghamshire-based venue. During the tray test, Head Chef Mike Day made a point of leaving Mohammed to his own devices to negotiate his way round the kitchen and interact with the rest of the catering team due to the management skill set needed to take on the role.
“I am very excited to be working with Lane End and such a talented catering team led by our Head Chef Mike Day,” said Mohammed. “I have always aimed to create and produce excellence for those enjoying my food and that is shared by Lane End. Conference and event food doesn’t need to be the run-of-the-mill stuff you see at other venues but instead it can be inspiring and memorable – that is something I am truly passionate about.”
Lane End Conference Centre offers a unique modular design with five distinct and completely self-contained conference buildings – each offering bedrooms, meeting facilities, bar, lounge and dining room – available for exclusive use.
