Continuing its successful policy of investing in young people and driving skills levels in the meetings and events industry, The Appointment Group Global Events has appointed this year’s event management student for a 12 month experience in the events industry.
Jack Grover, studying for a degree in Event Management at Bournemouth University, will be hoping to emulate former students, like Jon Pyne who was the company’s student placement in 2007, while studying event management at Leeds Metropolitan University. Having completed his degree, he joined the London office as Event Assistant, recently landing his dream role as Senior Event Manager at TAG Global Events’ Sydney office.
The company’s ‘keep it in the family’ mentality also recently led to London-based Global Events Specialist Indi Tharmanayagam joining the Melbourne team as Senior Event Manager. At the start of September, The Appointment Group launched its in-house training academy to help grow business by recruiting and coaching its own travel executives. The TAG Global Training Academy will be used to train people at higher education and further education levels, and it has already recruited seven students following a series of assessment days.
“We’re committed to developing talented young people and our student placement scheme continues to bear fruit that represents the future not only of our business, but of the meetings and events industry overall,” said Marjory Brown, Event Director at TAG Global Events. “We wish Jack good luck and hope he becomes a key member of our growing team during the next year.”
Commenting on his appointment, Grover said: “I’m absolutely delighted to join such a great company with an incredibly talented team. I’m looking forward to putting my studies into practice by helping to produce some outstanding events.”
