Nottingham Conferences appoints new Director of Sales

Nottingham Conferences – the University of Nottingham’s meetings, events, and conference facilities operated by the university under a managed service provided by market leader De Vere Venues – has appointed Katie Hodson as Director of Sales.

Joining from her role as Sales Director at Belton Woods Hotel, Katie brings with her over 8 years’ experience in hotel and venue business development and a passion for  delivering exceptional conferences, meetings and events. Katie’s appointment comes in the wake of an extensive programme of investment at the university, which includes the construction and development of a £40 million state-of -the-art sports village.  

Andrew May, General Manager at Nottingham Conferences commented: “Given Katie’s vast experience and unshakeable reputation in the conference and events industry, we know she is perfectly placed to lead the business forward during this exciting time and are delighted to welcome her to team.”  

Katie Hodson commented on her new role: “My primary focus is to attract large scale events such as conventions and association business to our 3 University campuses - Jubilee Campus, University Park and Sutton Bonington – as our venue lends itself perfectly to these events, boasting over 350+ meeting, conference and event rooms as well as over 4,000 bedrooms available in Halls of Residence.  

In addition, sporting groups will be a key focus as our sports village opens in autumn 2016, further broadening our appeal to international and national sporting and youth groups.”  

The new David Ross Sports Village will be equipped with a fitness suite, glass squash courts, indoor sprint track, dance studio, two sports halls and a climbing wall.
