Relais & Châteaux’s first Bulgarian property setting the standard in luxury
Spread over 3,000 acres of land and offering just six boutique villas and nine studio suites, Relais & Châteaux’s first foray into Bulgaria is one of unparalleled luxury with the grand opening of Zornitza Family Estate in March 2019. Set among over ten stunning vineyards in the heart of the Melnik wine region, the luxurious property is just 10 minutes from the Greek border and less than an hour’s drive from Thessaloniki International Airport.

The fifteen nature-inspired accommodations offer the ultimate in privacy and comfort, boasting panoramic views of the countryside. Each of the six private villas and nine studio suites are elegantly designed and made from natural stone and wood, sleeping between two and four guests for the perfect romantic or family getaway. Guests can enjoy sweeping vistas of the surrounding vineyards, Pirin Mountains and Melnik Sand Pyramids and have access to the hotel’s outdoor pool, which benefits with an all year round 38 degree balmy temperature thanks to the estate’s thermal mineral springs.

A haven for foodies, Zornitza Family Estate also features Restaurant aEstivum, combining ever-evolving international gourmet trends with local products, and is headed up by Executive Chef Vassil Spassov who has a wealth of experience from world-acclaimed NOMA and Alain Ducasse under his belt. Many of the ingredients have been sourced and grown from the property’s own Eco Farm, which produces its own organic fruit and vegetables, raises its own livestock and produces its own wine, honey and truffles. aEstivum’s wine list features over 500 labels from around the globe including many of its own, and during soft launch won an award from Wine Spectator in the USA.

The five-star property also features a luxurious spa, ZOMA Body & Soul, which is spread out over 1000sqm. Bringing a holistic approach to wellness through personalised treatments, guests can also enjoy a steam bath, salt mineral pool, sauna and jet pool, as well as 20m indoor pool with relaxation zone and bar. Treatments use healing mud from a nearby extinct volcano and honey from the estate’s own beehives, as well as Darphin for a variety of indulgent body and facial treatments.

Well positioned for stays throughout the seasons, guests can drive just over an hour to the slopes to Bansko Ski Resort or just under an hour to the stunning beaches of Halkidiki, and the area receives 330 days of sunshine per year.
